winter coffee offering
at this joy+ride, we believe that good food and drink can be poetry, and coffee can be an art form. on january 1st, we will feature sheri’s husband, ed, a home roaster and coffee lover, and his tips for making the perfect cup of coffee. as a bonus, ed has agreed to make a special roast just for this joy+ride readers.
all coffee orders are hand-roasted in small numbered batches and packaged simply in hand stamped brown paper bags. if you pre-order by Dec. 31st, you will receive a 25% discount and two square photo prints from issue seven of this joy+ride (one frost and one birds). this is a limited edition roast, and only 20 bags will be available, first come, first served.

from the roaster:
Having tried many coffees this year, I wanted to do something special and unique for this joy+ride. After several rounds of tasting, I narrowed my selection down to six and Finca Mauritania kept winning out. This coffee has become quite popular among coffee roasters due to Aida Batlle’s relentless care and pursuit of quality coffee and sustainable farming. This certified organic coffee hails from the northern slope of Santa Ana volcano in El Salvador.
This coffee is refined and delicate with aromas of pecans, baking spice, maple sweetness, and persimmon, as well as a creamy body and mid-palate sweetness. It’s roasted to bring out the fruit-forward sweetness. Finca Mauritania is one of those coffees that makes you want to sit back and enjoy every sip.
Here’s to the start of a new year. I can’t wait to share this coffee with you.
—Ed, the roaster
