Jonathan Fenske is a children’s book author/illustrator and artist who lives in the northern suburbs of Denver, CO. He is the author/illustrator of Woodward and McTweeLove Is in the AirGuppy Up!, and A Pig, A Fox, and A Box [2015], all published by Penguin USA. Along with his wife, Jennifer, Jonathan also has created a line of modern art prints on canvas for children at FatandAppy.com. Jonathan is also a painter, and his work has appeared in New American Paintings, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, on HGTV.com and in private and public collections across the country.

what’s one item in your summer wardrobe you can’t go without?

This summer I seem to wear a Goofy vintage-style tee shirt quite a bit. It’s from a family trip to Disney World earlier in the year.

  • Early mornings
  • Child chaos (I have three young daughters)

tell us about the inspiration behind this work.

Stuff is a picture book that explores a little boy’s fleeting fascination with the latest consumer staple. I was inspired to write and illustrate Stuff by watching our three girls and their remarkably short attention span with their new toys.
